OptiSpheric® and Spherometer are the classic optical test systems for spherical lenses that can be found in virtually any optical manufacturing process.
While the Spherometer is used for the tactile determination of lens radii, OptiSpheric® systems provide contactless measurement of effective focal length, back focal length, flange focal length, MTF on axis and the radius of lenses. Specific upgrades allow determining centration errors and angles on plane surfaces. OptiSpheric® is a PC-based Optical Test Station designed to accurately measure the optical parameters of lenses and optical assemblies. Modular and upgradeable, it covers a large range of applications and provides fast and reliable test results of almost all optical parameters.
Systems for testing IOLs in compliance with EN/ISO 11979 form a class of their own. OptiSpheric® IOL is preferably used for measuring single lenses while OptiSpheric® IOL PRO 2 is designed for the fully automated IOL measurement in serial production.
OptiSpheric® IOL measures accurately the diopter power and MTF of any kind of intraocular lenses in air and in-situ according to the EN/ISO 11979 standard. In addition it measures radius of curvature and back focal length (BFL).
An innovative design of Model Eye is used for tests of IOL under in-situ conditions. The advanced software uses a script language for the easy programming of automated test sequences and allows for the characterization of multifocal, aspheric, toric, diffractive and refractive lenses.

The measurement of plano optics, for example, can be achieved by simply adding some mechanical fixtures and a software module. In this way the wedge angle, mirror tilt angle, parallelism of windows , filters and plates and many other parameters of plano optics can be measured quickly and accurately.
A further upgrade helps solving problems related to the alignment and cementing of optics or enables the non-contact measurement of centering errors of optical components and systems.
